Anime recommendations for INTJs

Are you looking for anime to watch? Do you also happen to be an intj? Then here’s a list of anime you’re likely to enjoy based on research and personal experience.

No.1: Code geass

If you’re an intj who has gotten into anime and somehow not watched Code geass yet I’d suggest you do it now. Like, right now. Bookmark this site, leave, watch code geass, and then come back. You won’t regret it. Lelouch is the quintessential intj male as well as one of the best strategists I’ve seen in anime.

No. 2: Death note

If you’ve somehow not watched Death note yet then I’d suggest you do that too. Follow the same procedure as above and if you think Light (intj/entj) is a douchebag feel free to rant in the comment section below.

No. 3: Beserk

Another big name that you should watch ASAP. One thing before you go though. The only decent anime adaptation is the 1997 version so you’re going to have to read the manga for the rest of the story. If you generally don’t read mangas then I’d suggest you watch the 1997 anime, wait for another decent anime adaptation, be disappointed, and then read the manga.

No. 4: Neon genesis evangelion

While this mecha anime deconstruction doesn’t have its spotlight firmly centered on an intj it’s worth a watch anyway. The plot is mind bendingly unique and has a lot of psychological depth (perhaps due to the director, hideako anno’s struggle with depression). The show is also heavy with symbolism and explores themes few other anime touch.

No. 5: The promised neverland

I watched this anime very recently and I loved it
. The show has a distinctly gloomy aura, even in the scenes where everything is bright and happy and really uses the camera angle to create suspense. There are so many scenes where the camera angle creates this feeling of being watched and that goes with the theme of the show so well. The majority of the MCs of this show are highly intelligent and the show has a very distinct battle of the brains vibe because it.

No. 6: Psycho pass

This show explores the concept of a japan ruled by an all powerful AI called the sibyl system whose main purpose is elimination of crime by determining individuals with a propensity for it. Now, this already raises some questions regarding ethics and law but that’s not all. The sibyl system further exercises its power by deciding people's careers and lives which raises the question that if everything in your life is predetermined and you make no decisions then is that a life even worth living? All these questions and more are raised by the antagonist of the show, Makishima shogo, as he challenges the sibyl system and the populace’s belief in it. Definitely worth a watch.

Side note: When I talk about psycho pass, I mean season one. I haven’t heard much good stuff about season two and three.

No. 7: Steins;Gate

An amazing anime with a very unique protagonist, the self-declared mad scientist okabe rintaro (who’s likely intp/entp). He has a secret lab (his apartment) where he develops quirky gadgets with his friends and one day, they accidentally create a time machine. The show deals very realistically with the consequences of time travel and although it’s a little slow paced for the first few episodes, it’s gets really good after that. It’s one of the best time travel anime I’ve seen and you should definitely give it a try.

No. 8: Madoka Magica

Madoka Magica is not your typical magic girl anime. The show deals very deeply with emotions of hope and despair and is rather dark throughout. As the series progresses, becoming a magical girl is no longer viewed as something desirable as the viewer realises the actual horrors faced by these magic girls. The adorable alien cat kyubey, who turns young girls into magic girls, is in actuality a highly logic-driven utilitarian and not the cute animal cheerleader so many anime utilise. This anime is not for people looking for a cute magic girl anime but for people looking for a deconstruction of the magic girl trope.

NOTE: All these anime are ones that I’ve already watched and can vouch for the greatness of. I’ve also opted to leave out the anime that I had already mentioned in my underrated psychological anime list so definitely check out the top 7 on that list.

  1. And just in case anyone wants to point out how I didn’t put an ‘an’ in the cover photo before INTJ, it was intentional.
